>FAQs

Do I need to be “research-ready” to work with you?

Not at all. Whether you’ve never worked with a researcher before or already have in-house support, we meet you where you are. We’ve worked with scrappy startups and seasoned product teams alike. We’ll help you figure out what’s needed and what’s not.

We already have in-house research — how can you help?

We often partner with in-house research teams to expand their capacity, tackle high-priority initiatives that need extra focus, and amplify their impact. Whether you need extra hands during high-demand periods, a fresh outside perspective, or specialized expertise for a strategic initiative, we seamlessly integrate with your team to support and strengthen your existing practice.

How is your approach different from running a quick survey or usability test?

We love surveys and usability tests. When used at the right time and context, they give valuable insight into how people are thinking or interacting in specific moments. However, If not designed thoughtfully or done in isolation, they can lead to false signals that misdirect you. Our approach connects these data points with the wider context: the user’s goals, pain points, and the deeper "why" behind their behavior.

We already have product data —what does research add?

Data tells you what users are doing. Research helps you understand why. We often combine qualitative insight with your existing data to show you what’s working, what’s not, and where to focus next. It's not either/or, it’s both, done well to give the full picture.

Can you just run a single user study for us?

Absolutely. We’re happy to support one-off studies. That said, we always take a moment to understand the bigger picture, because even a single study delivers more value when it's grounded in context. We’re not just here to run tests, we’re here to help you make sharper, more informed product decisions.

Can you help us decide what to build next?

Yes, and more importantly, we help you understand why it’s worth building. We collaborate closely with key stakeholders like Product, Engineering, and Design to understand both current priorities and long-term goals. This lets us move beyond surface-level feedback to uncover what truly matters to your market and your business. The result? A roadmap grounded in real insight, not speculation or wishlists.

Do you only work on software and digital products?

Not at all. While much of our work is in digital experiences, we also support research for hardware, physical products, and hybrid experiences. Whether it lives on a screen, in your hand, or both, we help you understand how people interact with it, how it fits into their daily lives and routines, and how to make it better.

How long do projects usually take?

Depends on the scope. Some clients work with us for a focused 2-week sprint; others bring us in for multi-month strategy engagements. We can move fast but never at the cost of quality insights.
